Book Review: Hark! The Herald Angels Scream

This was a very fun holiday horror anthology. Lots of good stories, including ones about murderous toys come to life, holidays after the apocolypse, a Saw-like gift exchange, and a spooky Christmas Eve walk along the Appalachian Trail. The highlight of the anthology was a humorous story about a guys writing a roman-a-clef of "Christmas Shoes", inspiring everyone who heard the song to immediately commit suicide (makes me wonder if the author owes Patton Oswalt a ton of money, or vice versa). The collection ends with a pretty fast-paced novella concerning a chimney sweep and a Japanese spirit in Victorian London.

There's a handful of clunkers in the collection, but this was a lot of fun overall. Eight out of ten hot dogs - put it on your list for next Christmas!
