Book Review: Reaching Beyond Boundaries by Don Mann

Self-improvement book that's lighter on the lessons and heavier on the stories. Mann was a Navy SEAL and includes stories from his military past, but he was also an adventure and endurance racer as well as a mountain climber, and by the number of stories about climbing you can tell where his heart truly lies.
Nothing too Earth-shattering here (he's big on chunking, or in his parlance creating micro-goals to feed your macro-goals), but what really stood out was his chapter about taking things "over the line". Using himself as an example and telling the story of when he trained so hard for a race during his time in the SEALS that he ended up in the hospital, Mann writes that you have to keep your goals in perspective, that you have to "touch the line, not go over the line". That's something not often seen in self-help books (at least ones by SEALS, which tend to be the ones I read) and is refreshing perspective.
Sort of a middle-of-the-road effort, but entertaining enough to read. Six out of ten hot dogs.
